Dear Dave,

I am in the middle of escorting 19 great travel agents from western Canada to the Krystal Ixtapa and get familiar with a beautiful destination - Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo.

The Ixtapa area runs along 26 kms of hilly tropical coastline with dozens of sandy beaches and scalloped coves.  The average temperature is 78.8 degrees and the sun shines approximately 340 days a year!

KRYSTAL IXTAPA - The Krystal Ixtapa is located on one of the best beaches in Ixtapa's hotel district.
IXTAPA - Once a coconut plantation, Ixtapa boasts the high-rise hotels, all-inclusive resorts, air-conditioned restaurants and upscale shopping you associate with Mexican beach resorts and luxury travel.

The property features a great combination of modern architecture, hotel accommodations, cuisine, and Ixtapa's most spectacular swimming pool with its own waterfall and water-slide!

After an amazing arrival with a band and traditional dancers, we checked in and got ready for dinner.

Before heading into Bogart's, Krystal's amazing signature restaurant, we enjoyed a fire dancer presentation at the restaurant.
Then we headed next door to Christine's Disco, one of the most popular party spots in Ixtapa, to enjoy one of the Krytstal's 3 weekly shows.
The next morning, all of the agents were ready for a brief meeting and then site inspection on property.  Agents were able to see Standard (floors 2-4), Deluxe (floors 5-8) and Superior rooms (floors 9-11).
Of course the agents were able to spend some free time on property to enjoy the pools and great beach and eventually enjoying some time to do karaoke.

Thanks to all of these fine agents for their support!
The resort offers 3 restaurants and one a la carte which is the famous Bogarts Restaurant. Last Fall, the hotel underwent major renovations, which included rooms, lobby and restaurants.

The destination tag line is ONE TRIP, TWO PARADISES.  Of course the first part of your job as an agent is selling the destination.  It was great for the agents to enjoy and explore both paradises with a number of excursions.

With the help of OTI (WestJet's ground tour operator), we headed out for a city tour of Zihuatanejo, only 20 minutes from Ixtapa.

It is a beautiful, traditional fishing village, which I hope all Ixtapa guests take time to explore.  The local farming population relies on agricultural crops including coconuts, mangos, cotton and corn.

Another great excursion provided by OTI was a day out to a brand new museum and archeological site (Xihuacan Museum and Archeological Site), followed by a lunch at a near-by fishing village.

The catamaran excursion was a highlight for some of our agents!
