Dear Dave,

My colleague, Wendy Frost, just returned from taking 20 great travel agents from western Canada to the Krystal Ixtapa and to get familiar with a beautiful destination - Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo.

The Ixtapa area runs along 26 kms of hilly tropical coastline with dozens of sandy beaches and scalloped coves.  The average temperature is 78.8 degrees and the sun shines approximately 340 days a year!

The 3 primary goals of this and all of our FAMs are to have our agents:

1. Get to know the host properties,

2. Get to know the destination and,

3. Get to enjoy the service of our tour operator partner, WestJet

All aspects of our FAM are geared to one of these 3 goals.  In addition, we always do single-room occupancy on our FAMs.  You can see plans for upcoming FAMs HERE.

KRYSTAL IXTAPA - The Krystal Ixtapa is located on one of the best beaches in Ixtapa's hotel district.
IXTAPA - Once a coconut plantation, Ixtapa boasts the high-rise hotels, all-inclusive resorts, air-conditioned restaurants and upscale shopping you associate with Mexican beach resorts and luxury travel.

The property features a great combination of modern architecture, hotel accommodations, cuisine, and Ixtapa's most spectacular swimming pool with its own waterfall and water-slide!

All of the agents were ready for a brief meeting and then site inspection on property.  Agents were able to see Standard (floors 2-4), Deluxe (floors 5-8) and Superior rooms (floors 9-11).

Of course the agents were able to spend some free time on property to enjoy the pools and great beach.

Thanks to all of these fine agents for their support!

The team enjoyed their farewell dinner at Bogart's, Krystal's amazing signature restaurant.

The resort offers 3 restaurants and one a la carte which is the famous Bogart's Restaurant. Recently, the hotel underwent major renovations, which included rooms, lobby and restaurants.

You can find more details of our recent renovations HERE.

The destination tag line is ONE TRIP, TWO PARADISES.  Of course the first part of your job as an agent is selling the destination.  It was great for the agents to enjoy and explore both paradises with a number of excursions.

A catamaran trip was a great way to start exploring Ixtapa.

With the help of OTI (WestJet's ground tour operator), the agents enjoyed a city tour of Zihuatanejo, only 20 minutes from Ixtapa.  Along with that was a cooking demonstration/class.  Zihuatanejo is a beautiful, traditional fishing village, which I hope all Ixtapa guests take time to explore.  The local farming population relies on agricultural crops including coconuts, mangos, cotton and corn.

The agents even had a chance for biking exploring during their free time.

Of course the sunsets in Ixtapa are beautiful_

THANK YOU & RESOURCESThanks

THANK YOU to all of the people and teams who made this FAM possible:   WestJet Vacations (Tami, Angela, and teams), OTI (Mario, Adrian, and all), the Ixtapa Visitor's Bureau (Ana), and our host properties, Krystal Ixtapa, Hotel Barcelo Ixtapa Beach and Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa.  Thanks also to the great agents on the FAM for their participation and photo contributions (Robin, Rhona, and all)!
