Last month I gave you
some of my favourite
travel photography tips
( HERE).
This month, I promised
to give you a list of my
favourite Photo apps for
your smart phone for
quickly editing, backing
up, organizing and
making beautiful digital
art.
EDITING: I
know how to use
Photoshop fairly well,
but it takes a lot of
screen time at a
computer to edit my
photos so that they
"pop". With good photo
apps on my smart
phone, I can do 90% of
what I can with
Photoshop, and in a
few seconds!
SNAPSEED (for
Android or IOS) - This
totally FREE program
by Google is my #1
recommendation for
quick or detailed
edits to any smart
phone photos. My
favouritve effects are
HDR and Drama. Luckily
there are SO many
good, short YouTube
videos to watch on how
to use the app.
If you've been on one
of my FAMs, you may
have even received a
lesson from me on how
to use Snapseed. A few
of my favourite
editing functions are
Drama and HDR. I won't
explain them here, but
these can quickly and
easily (with one
finger tip), make your
images pop!
TOUCH RETOUCH: For
quickly erasing
unwanted people or
things in your
images. With one
fingertip you can
erase unwanted people
or things in your
images (see below).
BACKING UP
AND ORGANIZING
GOOGLE PHOTOS (for
Android or IOS) - This
is a great app for
backing up all of your
important photos from
your smart phone AND
computer. It provides
UNLIMITED FREE SPACE
for images saved at
the "HIGH" quality
setting. (You can
pay for storage at
"original size" which
in most cases is
unnecessary. 
Not only does it back
up your photos quickly
and automatically
(especially from your
smart phone) it will
organize your photos
in albums by people
(face recognition
software is amazing)
and by location. These
functions are GREAT
for finding pics of
loved ones or trip/FAM
memories quickly!
DIGITAL ART: For
turning your photos
into a bit of
digital art, here are
2 of my favourite apps
that you do have to
pay just a few dollars
for:
WATERLOGUE: Produces
a great water colour
effect.
MOBILMONET:
Makes a great line art
effect..
I love being able to
make all of these
edits on my smart
phone and in a few
seconds. I hope at
least one of these is
new and useful for
you. Of course, you
can find tutorials in
the apps and short
videos on YouTube for
how to use them
(especially SnapSeed).
