Best Day Airport Transfers

Dear David,

How are you? What's new? What's shaking? How's business?

So I guess the big news in April was the demise of Conquest. So sad. I hope it wasn't too much of a nightmare for you and you didn't have too many clients affected.

Did you know that I used to work for Conquest many moons ago? Yep, we're talking way back in the day (1997 - 1999). I used to be an Airport Rep for Conquest at YEG. I still remember getting up in the wee hours of those cold February nights to start my 3am shift at the airport for those 6am C3 flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Fun times.

I'm sorry to see them gone and let's hope that our friends and colleagues at Conquest are doing OK and they all land on their feet.

Anyways, I do have some big news to share with you. I made a major purchase last month -- I bought a new car!!!

new car photoSince I'm on the road all the time and basically I live in my vehicle, there was NO WAY I was going through another summer without air-conditioning. And yes, before you start laughing, there are one or two days a year that it's nice to have air-conditioning in Vancouver!

So I decided it was time to to upgrade my ride.

It's a PT Cruiser. It's one of those cars that you either love or hate.

I used to be a hater and I thought that they were the ugliest cars, but then I ended up renting one a while back and I LOVED it. And I had to have one. It's very roomy inside, it has air-conditioning and cruise control, plus the back seats can be removed so I've got lots of room for my brochures and displays in the back. Perfect rep car!

Dixie New Car PhotoAnd guess who else loves it too?

Dixie can be extremely picky but she seems to be very impressed with the new wheels. Her favourite thing in the whole world is going for a ride in the new car - she absolutely loves that.

The only downside is all of the messy nose-prints she leaves on the windows of my immaculate new car! Good thing she's cute.

We received THE ROYAL treatment in Cancun

Expect the Exceptional

Everyone likes to hear some positive feedback once in a while, right? Well, I'd like to share a wonderful letter with you. It was recently received by Ing. Fernando Garcia (President - Real Resorts). I think it serves as a testament to what makes Real Resorts exceptional - the people.

We would like to inform you of our wonderful experience with your resort. A merry group of eight (4 couples) chose your establishment in part because of the amazing comments on TripAdvisor. My best friend wanted to get married, and the rest of us wanted to get some much needed R and R. From the moment we booked we were amazed at the helpfulness of everyone associated with The Royal. Expect the Exceptional is your motto and you surpass that in leaps and bounds! A few of us have also worked in the hospitality industry, and our expectations can sometimes be too high, but we were floored by everything and everyone there. We all travel allot (there is just too much of this beautiful world to see) and found your resort to be the best we all have ever stayed in.
 THE ROYAL Cancun photo
Our first taste of perfection came from Carlos Navarro, Front Desk Manager. I emailed once we had confirmed our booking to ensure that our rooms would be close. In January we went to the DR and although requested numerous times prior to arrival to be close, we were spread throughout the hotel, and they could care less that we were unhappy about it. Carlos responded quickly to my email and even provided us with room numbers, which for the 3 swim up suites 127-128-129 (March 11-18, 2009). I asked him if we should do the online check in, or would we screw things up, he said there should not be any issues. Sure enough 2 nights prior to our arrival we all three checked in online and got rooms 127-128 and 129. I put a special occasion in for the arriving bride and groom, and when they checked in, they had rose petals, and towel art, they were very impressed! Thanks again to Carlos for booking in our suites, they were perfect and we loved them!

Throughout our week stay, which we all found to be too short. Every staff member would say Hola, touch their heart, and say it was their pleasure. Let me tell you it was our pleasure to stay and we will for sure all be back. Patty Hernandez was my BF wedding coordinator and she was not only beautiful but professional and without her the bride would have been a wreck. But because of Patty, the Bride got to enjoy everyday of her vacation, and to top it off, have a beautiful wedding.
 THE ROYAL Cancun room photo
Conchi was all of our Swim Up Master Suites Housekeeper, and she too was amazing, so friendly and helpful. Didn't mind if we were passing through when she was trying to clean, and always kept our suites in immaculate condition. There was only one day that we didn't get our scheduled housekeeping done and I think that was her day off!

Raphael the Beachbutler, what a guy. He ALWAYS had a huge smile on his face, always asked how we were, and always took care of ALL of our needs. Sometimes he would solve a problem before we even knew there was one. Nothing was too big or small for this guy, he would do anything, find anything you asked of him. Totally a treat to see each day, his professionalism and charisma is priceless, we will not soon forget that great man.

All staff at the restaurants were great, but our top two, were Jesus at Spikes, he would be there with a refill before you could blink, amazing! As well as Martin at Maria Maria's, he dug deep in your wine cellar for our favorite wine, but he never gave up, and we got that great bottle to enjoy with dinner.

Nadia at the Romance Concierge Desk was amazing as well, anything we would ask of her it got done. A few of us fell in love with the heart vases in the room, and when we mentioned it to her, she arranged it so that we could buy them to bring abit of our suite back to Canada. A few hours after asking she had them boxed and wrapped and delivered to our rooms , amazing!

The Pool servers were all excellent as well, but Eloisa, was precious! Her big beautiful smile greeted us each day, it was a pleasure to meet her. You couldn't help but be happy around her!
 THE ROYAL Cancun view photo
But the icing on the cake so to speak was EDY, pool waitress and bar server. Our last night at your beautiful resort all eight of us met on the balcony off the bar, for a cigar and a nightcap and EDY was our server, so polite, telling us we must come back next week to see her.She was wonderful. But the true greatness was after we left! 6 of us went to retire and the last couple stayed to say their goodnights to some friends we met there. A large group of British Guests headed out to the balcony for a smoke, as Edy went out to serve them she saw a lady picking up a wallet, so Edy politely went over to them and said that she knew who the wallet belonged to. The guest was adamant that the wallet belonged to her, Edy grabbed the wallet went over to our friends and asked if this wallet belonged to us, which it did and they returned it to us right away. If Edy did not have the courage to stand up for us, we would have lost all of our ID, money and Credit Cards. Words would never express how impressed we all were that she would take that risk to stand up for what is right. It takes a very brave and special person to do this. And she should be rewarded one thousand times over, since she saved us much heartache and many headaches.

These are our top nine employees of your wonderful establishment, but can honestly say everyone was very very nice. We will all speak and spread the word of the new wonder of the world, The Royal in Cancun. We look forward to visiting again and seeing all the wonderful faces and meeting more great people! Please Please Please commend these special nine for a job that went above and beyond greatness. They truly made our experience Exceptional!!!real logo

Regards, and Best Wishes

Canadian Guests

Wasn't that a great letter? I'm telling you, the
part about Edy and the wallet almost brought a tear to my eye.
Way to go Edy - and everyone else at THE ROYAL in Cancun. Job well done!!!
