Dear David,
Wow, can you believe it's August already? So how has
your summer been going anyways? Hmmm??? Good weather where
you are? How are the mosquitos? Been on any fun summer
road-trips? Details please! :)
I'm actually out in Alberta right now. Yep, I flew out
last week for the ACTA Alberta golf tournament in Ponoka
(just outside Edmonton). The weather was HOT and I spent
the day at hole #2 handing out ice-cold Corona beer. Geez,
I've never felt so popular!!! Everyone was so happy to see
me. Hmmm...was it me or was it the cold Corona beer they
were happy to see??? HAHA
I've been away from home for over a week now and of course
I really miss Dixie. I'll get to see her soon as I fly
home tomorrow.
 It's
funny, because I always receive complaint emails if I
don't include a Dixie update!!! Well, the latest news with
her is that for the past few months I've been trying been
trying to teach Dixie how to "shake a paw". Sounds simple
enough, right?

tourists, our coworkers and suppliers. It works!
This group wouldn't be what
it is without the enthusiasm and love that every coworker puts
in their jobs.
In 1983, when Fernando García was a SCUBA instructor in
Aquatours, a tourist came by asking to be driven to Tulum
ruins, but he didn't want to go in a bus with too many people.
He wanted someone to drive him in a car and he was willing to
pay $150 USD for the day trip. Considering that at that time
$150 USD was Fernando´s whole income for 15 days of work, he
told the tourist that he would take him anywhere he wanted to
go for that amount (including hell and back!) in his 2 door no
air-conditioned Fairmont. So Fernando drove him to Tulum and
Xel-ha with some beers, sodas and snorkeling equipment, then
to private lagoon Akumal and to Xcaret, where there was no
development at all yet. At the end of the day, the
Philadelphia tourist said, "This has been the best day of my
holiday". Fernando then took the name Best Day to offer same
day trips to his scuba pupils and started a formal travel
agency in 1984 known as "Best Day Personal Tours".
During the following years Best Day grew quickly with luxury
and air-conditioned private tours to the main archaeological
sites: Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba and even Merida; by 1995 Best
Day processed the first worldwide internet reservation paid on
line with an encrypted credit card and today bestday.com and
associates are the first Latin American on line dynamic
packaging company serving over 1 million tourists for over
1,400 Mexico resorts in 72 cities of Mexico. Cancun few
hotels were busier everyday and Best Day Travel Agency thrived
successfully each day.
Back in 1986 when Fernando was looking for more hotels to
establish the Best Day Travel Agency tour desks where more
tours could be sold, he came across the Kin Ha Condo Hotel;
Ambience Villas nowadays. The deal was that they would let him
place the tour desk as long as he could rent and manage 40
condominiums of the Condo Hotel. With a lot of enthusiasm and
a lot of ignorance about the hotel business, Fernando got to
an agreement. So he started renting 40 rooms in 1987 and
contracted up to 150 suite keys in the same complex by 1988.
In 1989 they bought a 36 rooms lagoon Hotel Laguna Real and
started growing in managing and acquiring. Then came the GRAN
COSTA REAL (1994), GRAN PORTO REAL (1997) and the former GRAN
CARIBE REAL (1998, today Riu Caribe) Hotels openings.
THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen was built in 2004 as a LUXURY
All Inclusive Beachfront Resort & SPA that started off with
great success in Playa del Carmen. Later on the Continental
Villas Plaza in Cancun was remodeled to be the New Gran Caribe

Real Resorts Enhances Commission
Booster Program
Travel Pulse - July 24, 2009
The RRMembers Commission Booster Program is offering travel
agents the opportunity to earn money. The expanded RRMembers
Commission Booster Program can now be combined with other
special promotional offers such as a $200 Extra Bonus Booster
for every 10 Qualified Booster bookings made at either of The
Royal Resorts, or for every 20 Qualified Booster bookings at
the Gran Caribe Real or
Gran Porto Real Resorts. (Bookings at the Grans may be
combined two for one with Royal bookings).
The $200 added Extra Bonus Booster is valid on all qualified
Commission Booster reservations made retroactively from Feb.
2, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2009.
In addition, under Real Resorts Commission Booster Program
agents earn extra commission for booking stays of five nights
or longer, triple or quadruple occupancies, and upgraded suite
categories while the agent's client will receive a
complimentary amenity from the agent upon arrival. Since its
inception last February hundreds of agents have participated
in the Commission Booster Program earning as much as an extra
$160 per reservation in Booster extra commission.
"Since we launched the Commission Booster Program we have had
the pleasure of awarding agents with more than $20,000 a month
in bonus commissions for booking Real Resorts," said Fernando
Garcia, director general of Real Resorts. "The top earning
agency to date is Vacations to Go, which received more than
$2,000 in added bonus commissions, by having their agents work
together to combine their bookings and earn more cash
incentives even faster. We truly believe this is the best
agent incentive program for Mexico."
The RRMembers Commission Booster Program is effective for
bookings through the end of 2010 and includes summer bookings
at all four all-inclusive Real Resorts: The Royal in Cancun,
Gran Caribe Real in Cancun, The Royal Playa del Carmen and
Gran Porto Real. For families, Gran Caribe Real Cancun and
Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen offer special family
programs where up to two children (in all guest suite)

The Mexico Tourism Board recently held a "Welcome
Back to Mexico" event at the Terminal City Club in
downtown Vancouver. It was a fantastic event and it was great
to hear all the great news from Mexico.
