Recently there was a very special guest at THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen; Ximena Navarrete, the reigning Miss Universe. She was on-hand with Joseph Cinque, President of the American Academy of Hospitality Science to recognize two Real Resorts with its prestigious International Star Diamond Award.

THE ROYAL in Cancun is the first Cancun property to receive the award, and also receiving the award is its sister property, THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen.

The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences is the world's premiere organization for awarding excellence in travel, cuisine, luxury products and services. Each year, the Academy bestows its coveted International Star Diamond Award - a recognition that many strive for but few achieve - on superlative establishments that are deemed to be of pinnacle quality.

 

Dave had the pleasure of doing a site inspection at Canto del Sol (CDS) and Villas Vallarta (VV) properties in Puerto Vallarta last month.  It was great for him to confirm in person all of the good things that we had heard from agents and their clients. Here is his report: 

The Canto del Sol property was already teaming with Canadians enjoying the ideal weather,  great food and picture-perfect pool.  Many guests also were enjoying the various pool, beach, spa or tennis activities through out the day.  The 8 tennis courts (6 lighted and 4 covered) seemed to be enjoyed by clients day and evening.  I greatly enjoyed the professional and entertaining shows that are performed each evening on the property.  My favourite was the Mexican show that gave a colourful overview of the enitre history of Mexico and it's various regions, in dance.

There was minor work being completed in the lobby while I was there, but it was finished before I left.  Socorro Aquino, the Sales Director, assures me that CDS and VV are "open and ready to greet their Canadian clients for the season."

Some of the rooms at the Villas Vallarta were being renovated to provide a fresh new bright and modern look.  These renovations will not interfere with guests staying at this comfortable property right across the street from CDS.  Many of the rooms have kitchenettes, so this property is perfect for clients looking to enjoy an extended stay in PV.  Guest at  the VV can also use the facilities (beach, pool, restaurants etc.) at the CDS across the street.

I was able to take time to get to know Puerto Vallarta better.  I took an amazing city tour that also took me to some of the surrounding jungle areas.  As a tourist, I found PV safe and friendly, both day and night.  There are many great spots to eat, socialize and meet friends around town.  The boardwalk or malecon is a wonderful area to shop, stroll, jog and/or people watch.   I found I couldn't leave town without enjoying all of the amazing varieties of tequilla.  My favourite was the cocoa cream (chocolate flavored) tequilla served over ice.  It was like enjoying a smooth melting, chocolate ice cream cone, with a pleasant buzz.

It sure is wonderful to have a great resort like Cant del Sol to be representing in Canada!
