Mazatlan tourism officials are extremely dissapointed by the drastic reaction of Norwegian cruise lines, which cancelled it calls for the remainder of the season in response to a shooting that took place on February 22nd. This shooting involved two local men who were not tourists or cruise passengers. At no time were visitors involved or affected by this isolated incident, which should have no bearing on the cruise industry whatsoever.

HONUA KAI RESORT & SPA

Last November Jodine Clement (Area Sales Manager Southern Alberta for Air Canada Vacations) stayed at the Honua Kai and here is her report. Thanks Jodine, love ya mean it!!! 

 

Honua Kai is a great condo style accommodation located on Kaanapali Beach.  We were in a Two Bedroom Oceanview room (Room 607).  It felt so new, that we weren't sure if anyone had stayed in the room previously.  What I personally like about Honua Kai is that all the rooms are standardized (unlike other condos in Hawaii), meaning they all have been decorated the same way with standard equipment, although they are all independently owned.  When owners purchase a unit, they are given an option to purchase Plan A or Plan B.  The only difference in the plan is the type of wood on the cabinets otherwise, all the furniture is the same, the appliances, linens, etc.  Our Room was just over 1000sq. feet, with two full bathrooms, full kitchen (Bosch Stainless Steel appliances including Fridge, Range, Microwave and Dishwasher) and complete laundry facilities, which came in very handy, as poor Jacob "FREW UP" in the car (after our drive to the Haleakala crater, which I will save the story for Sales Calls!!!).    Anyways, there are two towers now (Hokulani and Konea Towers), and we were in the newer tower (Konea), but I personally like the lobby of the Hokulani Tower (more of a hotel feeling with the Aina MarketPlace and full reception area with concierge).  There are three pool areas, one has a small lazy river, the second has a small slide, and the third is a large infinity pool.  All are really quite nice.  They rent full sized cabanas (two with private entrance to the pool), for only $35.00/for the day!  They also have several Outdoor Barbeque areas adjacent to the pool areas.  The Aina Gourmet Market offers organic coffee, wines, beverages and other food and gift items.  This is a nice place to grab a bit to eat and a drink to go.   The other Food and Beverage option is Duke's.  They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks (Happy Hour).  You must have the Hula Pie for dessert!  There is a strip mall just across the street from the property to buy other groceries.  The units have daily housekeeping and Laundry and Dishwashing soap is replenished daily.  This is a great option for your clients that want a Condo Style vacation. Honua Kai's Resort Service Fee is per room/night and includes, Beach and Pool services discount, access to the Fitness Room, Internet service, in-suite safe, self parking or valet, suite starter kit and free local calls.
