Dear Dave,
 Well,
it sure is an exciting time to be in Vancouver. The
Vancouver Canucks are in the Stanley Cup Finals for
the first time in 17 years. WooHoo!!! You can really
feel the excitement around the city. Go Canucks!!!
Here's a little fun hockey trivia for you...
Question:
What are the plastic things that hold the hockey net
to the ice called?
Answer:
Marsh Flexible Goal Peg
 My
Dad (Fred Marsh Sr) invented them back in the early
80's and they have been used by the NHL since 1991.
The design and material give them a flexibility that
allows the net to move when jostled, but remain on
the pegs during regular play. The pegs will bend
when the net is bumped, then return to their
original position. Upon strong impact, such as a
player crashing into the net, the net will pop off
the pegs and prevent injury to the player. The nets
can be replaced in seconds.
In the fall of 2000 my Dad proudly accepted the
Bennett Jones
Manning Innovation Award for his invention,
making hockey a much safer sport.
Pretty cool, eh?
So next time you're watching a game and the net
comes off, you can impress all your friends and say,
"Hey,
that's the Marsh Peg!!!"
Oh, while on the subject of hockey, congratulations
to everyone in
Winnipeg. That's awesome!!!

- There is nothing like staying at a comfortable,
beautiful resort with great food and service, that is
walking distance to the malecon (boardwalk) and
downtown.

Love is in the air with beautiful sunsets along the
beach. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton sure had
the right idea. (John Huston's film, Night of the
Iguana, was shot almost entirely in the ocean side
jungle of Mismaloya in PV.)
8. Art & sculptures
- Puerto Vallarta is famous for the amazing sculptures
found on the malecon and around town.
7. Nightlife
- After a great day of sun and fun, heading out for
drinks and dancing at one of the hot spots may be just
what you need- whether you are young, old, straight,
gay, quiet or wild!
6. Tequila tasting
- Head out on one of the tours to see how they make
tequila from the blue agave plant. Of course generous
tasting is included. Real tequila is only made in the
state of Jalisco. My favourite is the chocolate
flavored tequila!

- The sub-tropical climate of PV, can't be beat, year
round!

- There are so many great beaches and beach activities
to enjoy in PV which is set on the amazing Banderas
Bay. Whether you enjoy relaxing in the shade reading a
book, or participating in some of the sea-side water

kayaking, snorkeling and the jungle zip-lines.

- I love the famous local dishes from the sate of
