Hello and Happy Canada Day!!!


Anything fun planned for the long weekend?  


Dixie Palm Springs picWe are spending our long weekend at our place down in Palm Springs and boy it is hot, hot, hot!!! This weekend it's actually supposed to get up to 47 degrees. Crazy, eh?? But it's a dry heat.    


Dixie is here too and she's really enjoying her mini-vacation. Since it's so hot she spends her days napping in our air-conditioned condo, but in the mornings and evenings she is out enjoying the sites of Palm Springs. What a lucky dog!!!     


Not sure if you noticed, but last month we started a new feature in the newsletter. Every month we are offering an article by Catherine Heeg, who is a fabulous Calgary-based speaker and trainer. Check out her article this month focusing on Social Media Marketing for the travel industry!

I stayed at the Royal Playa del Carmen in May 2011 and had an amazing time! This resort is top notch. The location is perfect, a block away from Fifth Avenue for lots of shopping and nightlife. The Royal also offers a relaxed atmosphere, great for couples. I love that it is adult only. Some of the highlights were the pool was open 24 hours, the rooms were spectacular, with a jaccuzzi tub built for two in my room, and a hammock on my balcony. Every night I came back and my bed had been turned down, with chocolates and rose petals scattered around. Nice personal touches like this make the holiday all the more special. There's your own personal bar in the room as well, full of drinks and snacks, so you don't even have to leave the room. I also enjoyed a 5-course dinner at one of the many restaurants, absolute perfection!  


pink dressThe highlight to this fairytale is that I had accidentally left a dress behind. Normally I would just let it go, but I had just bought the dress a month prior in Egypt, so it had some personal meaning to me. I emailed Freddie from Real Resorts and he got a hold of the hotel, and low and behold they found the dress and are sending it to me by Fed-ex as I write this! This was the perfect ending to a perfect holiday. I will definitely go back and I will recommend this property to all of my family, friends and clients, as I am a travel agent. I have seen many resorts in the Mayan Riviera, and I can honestly say this one was my favourite. I will be back for sure!!
