Dear Dave,

 

Dixie NaughtyWell here we are at the beginning of another year. Happy New Year!!!

 

Further down in this newsletter there is a story about Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer) staying at the Hotel Marina El Cid over the Christmas holidays. Geez, I really wish I had known about that in advance, because I would've made a quick trip down there with Dixie to meet him.

 

As cute as Dixie is, she desperately needs some one-on-one time with Cesar to work on some of her issues. She LOVES people but she HATES other dogs...with a passion. Not sure what the deal is with that. Dixie is a rescue and she came to us when she was already 5 years old so there is a big part of her history that we don't know about. I'm thinking she wasn't socialized properly as a puppy, but who knows; maybe she's just naturally a bossy bitch!!! :)

 

Here is a video from a while back taken on the Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria showing a tense moment between Dixie and a fellow passenger.

Recognition for Canto del Sol

Canto del Sol has recently been recognized with the "Quality Distinctive H" for safe and hygenic food handling.

 

Canto del Sol RecognitionSince 1990, the Mexican Ministry of Heath and Ministry of Tourism have recognized establshments that sell food and beverages with the "Quality Distinctive H". The aim of the program is to ensure that the food and beverages provided to the public are stored, handled and served safely, by applying good hygiene and health practices.

 

The program requires that 80% of the staff and 100% of the managers go through a rigorous training. The training instructors provide a series of recommendations and techniques for cleaning, disinfecting, storaging, freezing, refrigerating, thawing food, and for personal hygiene. The program includes detailed checklist that must be accomplished to 90% satisfaction. The training and recognition happens annually.

 

Earning this recognition, provides numerous benefits to both the guests as well as the staff of Canto del Sol. Congratulations to Canto del Sol for their "Quality Distinctive H"!
