Back in December we received an email from
Boston Terrier Rescue Canada asking if we
thought we would be willing to consider
fostering a 3-year old female in need of a good
foster home. Dave and I talked about it and we
decided that even though we still miss Dixie
terribly, enough time had passed that we thought
we could handle it and we wanted to help.
Also, we thought that fostering would be a
perfect way for us to test the waters to see if
we were ready to welcome another dog into our
home without necessarily a long-term committment
(although that was the plan with Dixie 7 years
ago too and we ended up adopting her).
She's a westcoast girl, from a breeder on the
island, and she had one littler of 3 pups. As
you can see she is absolutely gorgeous, and she
even has her championship from the dog shows!!!
Well, we've had Lulu for a couple of weeks now
and she is a real

like their pets but I don't believe it. |
sweatheart. I was trying to talk Dave into
renaming her Lola so I could sing,
"Her name was Lola, she was a show dog",
but Dave thought the poor thing's been through
enough already. and we shouldn't subject her to
that. HAHA
She does have a few issues (don't we all?) and
she's not fully house-trained, not great on a
leash, and doesn't know any basic commands. But
she's a smart girl and with lots of
encouragement she is catching on to everything
very quickly.
We have a few more weeks before we have to
decide if we are going to keep her permanently
and we haven't made a final decision yet. As you
know, owning a dog is a huge committment and of
course we both travel a lot for our jobs so
we're not sure. One good thing is that Lulu is
only 13lbs so she could travel with us sometimes
on the plane.
Anyways, we'll keep you posted.

Vacation Honua Kai
We received a great email from Daphne Routlege
from AMA Travel in Edmonton about her recent
family holiday to Honua Kai Resort & Spa. With
her permission we'd like to share it with

Aloha!!!
I would like to thank you all for your
assistance over the past few months as I
arranged our family visit to the Honua Kai
(January 06-18).
We had the most amazing time; it will be
an unforgettable vacation for my husband and I
(celebrating our 30th) and our grown 'kids'
(mid-20's). My 27-year old son came to me on
our last day, gave me a big hug and told me it
was the best family vacation of his life.
Can't beat that! Between us all, we swam,
snorkeled many times, walked and ran the
boardwalk and the entire beach, surfed,
golfed, saw fish, turtles, eagle rays, spinner
dolphins and whales.
Our 3 bedroom OCV penthouse (1033) was
gorgeous with a view now imbedded in my mind
(as I look at the snow falling outside our
office windows!). Your staff, from
chambermaids, Duke's staff, and front desk and
concierge staff were outstanding (and I've
stayed in many resorts with our incentive
groups). We will be back.
