Well,
we just got back from traveling on a great trip and actually ended up
going around the world in 42 days. We were in 13 countries on 3
continents, and sailed over the Equator for the first time. |
We
flew to Singapore to start our 33-day cruise across the Indian Ocean to
Cape Town on the Azamara Onward. Even surviving 2 big storms with
7-meter swells in the Southern Ocean, around the Cape of Africa
couldn’t dampen our spirits. It was a great, bucket list trip! |
While we were traveling, the world continued on, so I have a few announcements to share with you regarding El Cid Resorts. |

Air Canada announced non-stop seasonal service between Vancouver (YVR) and Mazatlán (MZT) operating Tuesdays & Fridays from December 15, 2026 through April 9, 2027. This is great news for the destination, and don’t forget that El Cid has 4 properties there! |
Also, remember that WestJet has summer flights to MZT from Calgary and Montreal (Saturdays). |

For
several years now, we have been traveling with only carry-on
luggage. My back has sure appreciated this accomplishment, and
here are a few of my most recent tips. It is all about the
compromise of space and weight. 1. Know about laundry options at
your destination or on your cruise ship, as this is the only way we
could do carryon. (Azamara has a free laundry room for guests.) 2. On a cruise ship, take magnetic hooks (for the walls) and light, small foldable hangers, to hang damp clothes on. 3. Share resources with
your spouse/traveling partner… One small bag with all of the
preventative medications, dental floss, toothpaste, etc., rather than
multiples. |
4. Know what resources (souvenir t-shirts, toothpaste) that you can easily acquire during your travels, that you don’t need to pack. 5. I love small solid/wax colognes rather than heavy bottles with liquid cologne. 6. Have you heard of a TRTL travel pillow? We both appreciated using them during our long flights. |
